The collapse of the Mexico City railway bridge killed at least 20 people


There are reports that at least 20 people were killed and dozens injured after a railway bridge on a busy road in Mexico City collapsed.

Local images captured after the accident showed that the train carriage was suspended from an overpass and approached the Olivos station of Metro Line 12 on Monday night. Rescuers are looking for stranded passengers at the scene.

Reuters said 49 people have been hospitalized.

The Associated Press quoted Mexico City Mayor Claudia Simbaum as saying: “The support beam has given way.”
